Legendary Frequently Answered Questions of Importance
Q. Do your models come already assembled?
A. No, we sell 100% real balsa wood model airplane kits to be assembled by the owner.
Q. Is this an earth friendly company?
A. Yes. Building and flying model airplanes is not only earth friendly,
it's a great way to enjoy our beautiful planet. We use only plantation
grown balsa wood in our kits and where ever possible we incorporate
recycled materials.
Q. Do you offer advice on actually building models?
A. While we cannot provide step-by-step coaching we do answer questions
about building your Easy Built Models kit. Be sure to tell us which
kit you are building and be specific in phrasing your question. Be
patient, replies may take a few days. For general building help we
suggest visiting your local hobby shop, or browsing the AMA
(Academy of Model Aeronautics) web site for the name of your local
model builder's club. We also suggest buying Don
Ross' books on building model airplanes.
Q. Can I visit your hobby shop?
A. Sorry, we do not have a hobby shop, we sell through the mail only.
Sorry, we do not give tours.
Q. I own a hobby shop or museum and I am interested in carrying your
kits, where would I get information on doing just that?
A. Please give us your mailing address by clicking here,
and we will send you a dealer package. If you prefer, you can mail your
request to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL 36068-1744.
Q. I would like to contribute to your "Model Tips" section,
how exactly would I do that?
A. To do that, you would need to write up your tip or tutorial and then
send it through email to us.
Alternatively, you can send your tip/tutorial through the U.S. Postal
Service to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL 36068-1744.
Q. How do I order, and, can I use my MasterCard/Visa or PayPal?
A. Yes, with exception of a few countries you can use your credit card
of PayPal account to order. Alternatively, we accept mail order
payments using check, money order or MoneyGram. Complete
instructions for ordering can be found at the Ordering
section of our web site
Q. When will I get my order?
A. Unless an item is marked out of stock, your order is normally shipped
the next business day via USPS Priority Mail or UPS ground.
Q. Will you be coming out with any new kits soon?
A. Yes, yes, yes. There are always new kits in the making. (Kinda like
Santa's workshop, the elves are always producing.) So
please stop by monthly to see our latest or click
here
to receive email notification when a new kit is born.
Q. What do your kits include?
A. All of our kits include building instructions, full-size plan, and
wood. Tissuing covering is in most kits except
the ERC series, the CL series, and profile gliders. Most of our display kits
also include a propeller, wheels, and if needed vacuum-formed parts.
Our rubber powered kits also include flying instructions, propeller,
wheels and rubber motor. Many kits include TissueCal™ markings and
vacuum-formed parts. The modeler is expected to provide a building
board, pins, hobby knife, fine
sandpaper, and glue. Our kits feature
printed wood except for kits marked Laser Cut.
Q. You know, I have some really nice pictures of a completed version
of one of your kits, would you like them?
A. Yes, yes, yes! We love adding your photos and building tips to
the model pages. Other builders learn so much from you and are inspired
to reach new heights in their own model building. (Excuse the pun.)
Please send your pictures of Easy Built Models planes
to us by email or by
mail (Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL 36068-1744),
along with notes pertaining to any modifications made to the model.
Be sure to include your name, so we can give you credit.
Q. I like paper, do you have a catalog?
A. Yes, as a matter-of-fact, we do. Although we recommend using the
web site, you still can order a catalog by sending $3 along with your
name and address to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL
36068-1744.
Q. Are your kits Laser cut?
A. Kits descibed as LASER CUT are, but all other kits have printed wood.
Printed wood kits require you to cut out all the parts using your Xacto knife.
Q. Do you sell plans?
A. No, sorry we do not. Our operation is based on the manufacturing of
kits which include full-size plans. The cost associated with selling only
plans would frequently exceed half the cost of the kit itself. Instead
we have spent our time focusing on manufacturing kits with top quality hand-picked materials
for constructing your model.
Q. What is FAC and SAM?
A. FAC is an acronym for Flying Aces Club the national club for those who build, fly, and compete with rubber powered model airplanes.
The best people we know belong to the Flying Aces Club and we could not have asked for better role models
for our sons growing up.
SAM is an acronym for Society of Antique Modelers a world wide community dedicated to the building and flying of Antique Model Aeroplanes.
Q. What is the difference between Precision Beam and
the Box and Former methods?
A. Precision Beam relies on building a single keel to which formers
are attached to create the fuselage and is similar to the half shell
method. With the Box and Former method, you attach formers to a box
like structure to create the fuselage.
Q. What is your return policy?
A. All returns must be authorized by us. Please contact us at daveann@easybuiltmodels.com
to request authorization. Merchandise can be returned for refund of
the purchase price, less shipping, if merchandise is returned unopened
and undamaged within 10 days. All returns should be well packaged and
insured for the full purchase price. There is a 15% restocking fee on
returned merchandise.
Q. Although this "FAQ" is wonderful, I still have questions
that weren't answered, how do I contact you?
A. Email daveann@easybuiltmodels.com
and we will be happy to answer your questions. |
