Legendary Frequently Answered Questions of Importance
Q. Do your models come already assembled?
A. No, we sell 100% real model kits to be assembled by the owner.
Q. Is this an earth friendly company?
A. Yes. Building and flying model airplanes is not only earth
friendly, it's a great way to enjoy our beautiful planet. We use only
plantation grown balsa wood in our kits and where ever possible we
incorporate recycled materials.
Q. Do you offer advice on actually building models?
A. No, other than what we offer on our website, we cannot possibly
answer all the individual questions we get on the subject of building
model airplanes. We suggest visiting your local hobby shop, or browsing
the AMA (Academy of Model
Aeronautics) website for the name of your local model builder's club.
We also suggest buying Don Ross' books on building
model airplanes.
Q. Can I visit your hobby shop?
A. Sorry, we do not have a hobby shop, we sell through the mail only.
Sorry, we do not give tours.
Q. I own a hobby shop or museum and I am interested in carrying
your kits, where would I get information on doing just that?
A. Please give us your mailing address by clicking here,
and we will send you a dealer package. If you prefer, you can mail
your information to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville,
AL 36068-1744.
Q. I would like to contribute to your "Model Tips" section,
how exactly would I do that?
A. To do that, you would need to write up your tip or tutorial and
then send it through email to us.
Alternatively, you can send your tip/tutorial through the U.S. Postal
Service to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL 36068-1744.
Q. How do I order, and, can I use my MasterCard/Visa?
A. Yes, you can use your MasterCard or Visa card to order. Complete
instructions for ordering can be found at the Ordering
section of our website.
Q. When will I get my order?
A. Unless an item is marked OUT OF STOCK, your order is normally shipped
the next business day via Priority Mail.
Q. Will you be coming out with any new kits soon?
A. Yes, yes, yes. There are always new kits in the making. (Kinda
like Santa's workshop. The elves are always producing.) All new kits,
when they are ready, will be showcased on our home
page.
Q. What do your kits include?
A. All of our kits include building instructions, plan, and wood.
Tissuing covering is in most kits except the
ERC series, the CL series, and profile gliders. Our display kits include
a propeller, wheels, and if needed vacuum-formed parts. Our rubber
powered kits include propeller, wheels and rubber. Some of them include
decals and vacuum-formed parts. The modeler is expected to provide
a building board, pins, hobby
knife, fine sandpaper, and glue. Our
kits feature printed wood except for kits marked Laser Cut.
Q. You know, I have some really nice pictures of a completed version
of one of your kits, would you like them?
A. Yes, yes, yes! Please send all pictures of Easy Built Models kits
to us by email or
by mail (Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville, AL 36068-1744),
along with notes pertaining to any modifications made to the model.
Please also include the builder's name, so we can give credit.
Q. Where are all the airplane pictures?
A. Click on Model Kits on the upper left, then select a category,
and click on the name of the model to see what pictures are available.
Q. I like paper, do you have a catalog?
A. Yes, as a matter-of-fact, we do. Although we recommend using the
website, you still can order a catalog by sending $3 along with your
name and address to: Easy Built Models, PO Box 681744, Prattville,
AL 36068-1744.
Q. Are your kits Laser cut?
A. All kits have printed wood, except those kits that are marked Laser
Cut.
Q. Do you sell plans?
A. No, absolutely not! Our operation is based on the manufacturing
of kits which include plans. The cost associated with selling
only plans would frequently exceed half the cost of the kit itself.
Instead we have spent our time focusing on supplying kits with good
materials that can be used in the construction of your model.
Q. What is the difference between Precision Beam
and the Box and Former methods?
A. Precision Beam relies on building a single keel to which formers
are attached to create the fuselage and is similar to the half shell
method. With the Box and Former method, you attach formers to a box
like structure to create the fuselage.
Q. What is your return policy?
A. All returns must be authorized by us. Please contact us at dave
ann@easybuiltmodels.com to request authorization. Merchandise
can be returned for refund of the purchase price, less shipping, if
merchandise is returned unopened and undamaged within 10 days. All
returns should be well packaged and insured for the full purchase
price. There is a 15% restocking fee on returned merchandise.
Q. What is SAM and FAC?
A. SAM is an acronym for Society
of Antique Modelers and FAC is an initialism for Flying
Aces Club.
Q. Although this "FAQ" is wonderful, I still have questions
that weren't answered, how do I contact you?
A. Email daveann@easybuiltmodels.com
and we will be happy to answer your questions. | | |
