Rubber Powered Airplane Kits / FF-61
Tiger Moth
The FF-61 Tiger Moth is a 1/17.6 scale flying model that uses the
Precision Beam method of construction.
Qualifies for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) competitions. This
kit was designed by Roy Thomason for the Modelcraft division of Easy
Built Models.
De Havilland and his longtime friend, engine designer Frank Halford,
modified a French motor and came up with one that was lighter in weight
and simpler in design. The new motors powered de Havilland's highly
successful Moth family of aircraft. The first such airplane flew in
1925 and continued through WWII. These included the Gipsy Moth, Giant
Moth, Hawk Moth, Puss Moth, Swallow Moth, Tiger Moth, Fox Moth, Leopard
Moth, and Hornet Moth. They served as private planes, trainers, and
light airliners.
This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size plan, building
instructions, printed balsa wood, balsa stripwood, rubber motor, Peck
propeller, nose package, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels,
landing gear, and Easy Built Lite colored tissue.
You will need a building board, pins, hobby
knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.
